Increasing the competitive advantage, capabilities and strategy development of women business owners in the energy, oil and gas industries.
WASHINGTON, DC, October 24, 2018 -- The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) is excited to announce the launch of the second annual WBENC Energy Executive Program, October 28 – November 2, 2018 at Shell’s Robert Training Center in Louisiana. This program is a week-long, immersive executive education experience focusing on the Energy, Oil and Gas industry to drive development of Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) leaders within the energy industry supply chain.
Supported by corporate participants BP America, Chevron, Exxon Mobil Corporation and Shell Oil Company — all of which are recognized on the annual America’s Top Corporations for Women’s Business Enterprises by WBENC — this breakthrough program is part of a sustained effort by major oil and gas companies to enable women-owned businesses to become valued partners in the global energy supply chain. The women from the 2017 program have already communicated great growth and opportunities resulting from the education and experience they received in last year’s program.
This year the WBENC Energy Executive Program brings together 25 women-owned businesses, industry experts, and professors from the University of Texas, McCombs School of Business for one week of training, skill development and networking. This program falls at the end of National Women's Small Business Month and demonstrates the commitment WBENC and their partnering corporations have made towards impacting the long-term success of diverse businesses that are critical to the global energy supply chains.
The WBENC Energy Executive Program will feature an intensive curriculum including overviews of each segment of the energy industry supply chain taught by experts form the participating corporations, executive topics critical to owning and growing a business such as business strategy, marketing, finance and leadership taught by professors from the University of Texas, McCombs School of Business who specialize in the energy industry, as well as informal fireside chats and networking opportunities with energy industry top executives. The program curriculum uses women business owners’ actual business experience in exercises while providing hands-on activities in the field to ignite innovative ideas and thinking in the minds of all participants. The program will be held at Shell’s Robert Training and Conference Center, a world-class training facility used to train and certify oil and gas employees before working offshore.
