In 2024, WBENC continues its inspiring tradition by celebrating the WBE Stars for their remarkable achievements, contributing invaluable leadership, innovation, and influence on the dynamic business landscape. Each handpicked by one of the 14 Regional Partner Organizations (RPOs), these women serve as a wellspring of inspiration for others within their communities. The recognition they receive through the WBE Star Award is a powerful testament to the profound impact they’ve made in their respective business environments.
The 2024 WBE Stars received their accolades at the vibrant WBENC National Conference, a grand event held from March 19-22, 2024, in Denver, Colorado. This conference was a hub of innovation and networking, drawing nearly 5,000 entrepreneurs and business leaders who celebrated the accomplishments of these extraordinary women.
But the celebration doesn’t end there. Throughout 2024, WBENC will continue to spotlight these trailblazing women in various dynamic formats, including an engaging article series and captivating feature articles in WE USA Magazine this summer. Prepare to be inspired!

The 2024 theme is AMPLIFY. What does AMPLIFY mean to you?
“AMPLIFY speaks to the power of women leveraging their strengths, experiences, and diverse perspectives to create a resounding resonance in the business landscape.”
When and how was your business started?
In 2009, I was working with a staffing company. As I was selling these services, I came across an opportunity to work with a Sheriff’s department to payroll correctional officers. I was assured by the owner her company could obtain workers compensation. But after an 18-month sales cycle we were given the contract, and the workers compensation carrier would not cover corrections officers. The owner shared I could go out and get the insurances needed and open a business to service this Sheriff’s Department, so I used $90K in our savings account, secured workers comp., general liability, EPLI as well a back-office provider and opened Personalized Payroll in less than two weeks. An adventure to say the least!
What is one way you recommend people to “AMPLIFY” the impact of the WBENC network in the next 2 years?
One effective way to AMPLIFY the impact of the WBENC network over the next two years is through active and strategic participation at the national, regional, and local levels. Engaging with the WBENC community by attending events, attending educational opportunities offered by WBENC and their RPO partners as well as collaborating with other WBEs on business initiatives can significantly enhance the collective influence of the network.
How are you planning to AMPLIFY the mission of the WBENC network during your time as a WBE Star?
I see this as a unique opportunity and plan to leverage networking opportunities to actively promote the WBENC network at the national, regional, and local levels. I will highlight how being a part of the network has positively impacted my business and emphasize the opportunities and connections gained throughout the 11 years I have been a certified WBE and active in the WBENC family.
Provide an example of how innovation helped you overcome a challenge, pivot, or adapt your business.
As a payroll service, we continuously evaluate and leverage technology to provide the best customer experience possible. By implementing a robust online platform, I not only expanded my market reach but also enhanced the overall customer experience through features like remote working and support to clients. The innovative use of data analytics allowed me to gain insights into customer preferences and tailor their product offerings accordingly. This strategic pivot not only helped my business survive in a changing market landscape but also positioned it for sustained growth and resilience in the digital age.
What areas of innovation do you foresee for women entrepreneurs over the next few years?
I believe women entrepreneurs are poised to be at the forefront of innovation across diverse sectors. Notable areas are likely to be technology, where women-led startups will contribute to the development of cutting-edge digital solutions, software applications, and tech platforms that address evolving industry needs. Sustainability is a growth industry and is expected to drive women entrepreneurs toward creating businesses with eco-friendly products and services leading to innovations in sustainable fashion and retail products, renewable energy, and environmentally conscious practices.
