It’s time to raise our voices and open our wallets to support women-owned businesses.

First there was Black Friday and Small Business Saturday. Then came Cyber Monday and Giving Tuesday. And now? Women Owned Wednesday!

As readers of this blog may know, WBENC has been sending a weekly newsletter called Women Owned Wednesday since 2018. Women Owned Wednesday the newsletter is dedicated to bringing you new and innovative ways to support women-owned businesses — every week.

But this year, we are joining other organizations who have spearheaded a focused day of support for businesses owned and led by women.

Organizations like the Women’s Entrepreneurship Day Organization, who launched a #ChooseWomen campaign, featuring a great toolkit to spread the word.

And there’s Women-Led Wednesday, founded in 2017 by Cassie Abel, Co-Founder of women’s outdoor apparel brand, Wild Rye. Celebrated the Wednesday before Thanksgiving, Women-Led Wednesday brought together 450 brands of all sizes to amplify a collective voice with a common message and call-to-action – #ShopWomenLed. (The directory is year-round and is accepting new additions!)

Dough, an e-commerce platform and directory dedicated to empowering consumers to shop women-owned, says they are celebrating the third annual Women-Owned Wednesday this year with a $5 shop credit when you show them your receipts supporting a women-owned brand this Holiday season:

Take a selfie with them, snap them next to your coffee, show them side-by-side with the products you love. Share how you’ve made an impact for a woman-owned business in a way that will allow her to raise funding, hire more talent, expand her product line— whatever she needs to grow and scale her business.

The receipt must be from the last 30 days in support of a woman-owned business. Limit to one shop credit per customer. Must submit your receipt via tagging @joindough or emailing hello@joindough.com by 8 AM, December 3, 2020. Shop credit expires on 12/31/20.

When it comes to building a movement of support for women-owned businesses, one thing is for certain: we are stronger together. That’s why we launched National Women’s Small Business Month with the #BuyWomenOwned Campaign Collective, a group of like-minded organizations dedicated to expanding opportunities for women entrepreneurs and building the movement to #BuyWomenOwned. And that’s why we are proud to stand with these and other organizations to celebrate Women Owned Wednesday.

How to Participate in Women Owned Wednesday
