In March of 2025, a talented and motivated group of 40 early-stage entrepreneurs representing 35 Colleges and Universities were accepted into the Collegiate Accelerator, a multifaceted, cohort-based program designed to guide emerging business owners through their startup phase. Read on to learn more about the 2025 participating founders and their ventures!
The WBENC Collegiate Accelerator provides student founders with the opportunity to learn from and network with like-minded emerging business owners to form meaningful peer connections within their cohort and beyond. The 2025 CA virtual cohort has engaged in a series of tailored educational sessions focused on the fundamentals of growth for startups and facilitated by subject matter experts across the robust WBENC network of Certified women business owners and corporate supporters.
The Virtual CA cohort received professional guidance and tailored training across five weeks, spanning the month of April. Marianne Ellis, CEO Success Community, facilitated a signature training on Business Strategy for Growth, in which founders learned the importance of creating and implementing a sustainable growth strategy designed to increase sales and accelerate growth. Quinn Conyers, Speak to Society, facilitated an engaging training focused on Crafting a Compelling Pitch, which equipped founders with the language needed to create meaningful messaging, an essential tool used for accessing capital and business development. Shaniece Bennett, MBA, CPA, Accutrak Services, facilitated a conversational training on Financial Basics for Startups, which empowered founders to strengthen their financial acumen by familiarizing themselves with essential accounting systems and processes. Serena Saitas, Real Brand Strategy, encouraged founders to better understand and define their value proposition in a Marketing and Branding course, which emphasized the science behind brand expression and marketing strategy while providing the tools, resources, and insights needed to collect data and measure growth. Finally, the virtual CA cohort concluded the April educational series with an impactful and informative session focused on Legal & Intellectual Property for Entrepreneurs, presented by The Home Depot. This session informed early-stage business owners of key foundational legal concepts needed to protect their ventures including an introductory overview of business structures and contracts, regulatory compliance, and Intellectual Property.
“Each session challenges me to confront new parts of myself. It’s been a pruning process that’s shaping me into not just a stronger CEO, but a fuller version of who I’m meant to be.” – Cameron Elyse Blount | Founder & CEO, Céleste Studios and 1st Place WBENC Women of Color Incubator Pitch Winner at North Carolina Central University
