Sugar Bliss

CEO and Founder

Teresa Ging is the CEO and Founder of Sugar Bliss. Her professional journey began with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Statistics from the University of Chicago, followed by six years in finance. However, she pivoted her career and enrolled in the Le Cordon Bleu Patisserie program in Paris – mastering the art of creating exquisite desserts. There she honed her technical skills and creativity, returning to Chicago inspired to launch Sugar Bliss.

In January 2009, Ging opened the first Sugar Bliss retail location in Chicago’s Loop neighborhood with just cupcakes. However, over the past 17+ years, Sugar Bliss has expanded its offerings to include over 200 baked goods varieties, including cupcakes, cake pops, French macarons, cookies, brownies, and morning pastries. Sugar Bliss has become one of Chicago’s most beloved bakeries with nationwide shipping.

Expanding beyond its storefront, Sugar Bliss introduced packaged cookies available at retailers and in food service. The three signature flavors—Rainbow Sugar, Sea Salt Chocolate Chunk, and OMG! (featuring potato chips, pretzels, cereal, chocolate chips, oats, and a hint of coffee). Dedicated to sustainability and social impact, Sugar Bliss donates a portion of proceeds to support women and minority entrepreneurs and environmental conservation, all while using sustainable packaging.

Ging’s entrepreneurial achievements have been widely recognized. Her accolades include:

  • Best New Business Award from the City Treasurer’s Office/City of Chicago (2010)
  • Rising Star Award from the Women’s Business Development Center (2011)
  • Enterprising Women of the Year Award (2019)
  • Shirley Marx Pitch Award (2021)
  • BMO Harris Celebrating Women Award (2023)
  • NAWBO Corporate Women Achievement Award (2023

In 2009, Ging was invited by President Obama to attend the signing of the White House Council on Women & Girls.
