Molly Zraik

BAZ Group

CEO and Founder

Molly is a self-taught entrepreneur. She graduated with honors from Indiana University with a BA in Economics in 1989. Armed with the knowledge that she was at least as smart as the average person and worked harder than anyone she knew, she set out to make her mark and landed in the telecom optimization business in late 1990.

There was no professional training in telecom, so she learned from industry mentors and engineers she worked with on projects. She had a deep reverence for the engineers who build and maintain networks, but she found that they were often not good at thinking in business terms of ROI and cost optimization or in negotiating favorable contracts for the services they supported. These are the areas she excelled in. Her abilities to think like both an engineer and a business leader, to digest complex information sets and to organize both information and teams to bring order to chaos, set her apart from her peers. She learned from every engagement, every client, and every engineer she worked with, and she thrived as she took on more and more complex and challenging work.

Over time she noticed that almost all of her clients’ challenges stemmed from very similar root causes, ineffective processes and siloed responsibilities which lead to overspending. She would need a team to take on these challenges and so she expanded BAZ Group’s service offering and set about building a company that could fix broken processes and stop overspending at the root.

The transformation was very slow-going at first since it required many skills that she didn’t even know she didn’t have. It wasn’t until she became certified by WBENC that she found a professional network and the training opportunities she needed to begin to truly grow and scale her business.
