Mary Elmer is the Executive Director of Oncology Patient Insights and Engagement at Merck. Ms. Elmer is actively involved in bringing the voice of the patient into the oncology drug development process at Merck through strong collaborative partnerships with patients and organizations serving patients.

Prior to this role she led the Patient Experience group which seeks to create an experience that engages patients and caregivers in optimizing their health, wellbeing, and healthcare outcomes.

She has led a patient engagement team across multiple therapeutic areas that brings patient insights into enterprise wide initiatives and medicines development at Merck. Mary is a nurse practitioner with over 20 years of experience, working in all phases of drug development and implementing strategic initiatives. Mary is a member of the Global Diversity and Inclusion council at Merck and collaborates with external groups on ensuring diversity, equity, and inclusion in clinical trials. Mary obtained her Master of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
