Gently Soap

Founder & CEO

Kristen Dunning is a passionate advocate for plant-based wellness, a dedication rooted in her rich heritage as a fifth-generation Black farmer from Alabama as well as her personal struggle with eczema. Her deep connection to the land and its healing potential led her to create Gently Soap – a skincare brand crafted from her own herbal infusions, thoughtfully designed for the millions who suffer from sensitive or irritable skin. Gently Soap is more than a product line; it’s a reflection of Kristen’s mission to make botanical, plant-derived care accessible without compromising skin health.

Kristen earned two degrees in agricultural science at the University of Georgia, one of the nation’s premier agricultural institutions. Pursuing her passion for business and innovation, Kristen went on to earn her STEM-designated MBA from the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia, where she deepened her expertise in data-driven decision making, strategy, and sustainable business practices.

Over the past two years, Gently Soap has generated $1.7 million in revenue, fueled by national features on Shark Tank, Oprah’s Favorite Things, The View, Good Morning America, ABC World News, and other major platforms. Widespread visibility of Gently Soap created strong brand awareness and overwhelming customer demand; this accelerated growth and loyal customer base captured Walmart’s attention at their 2025 Open Call, where they were awarded a Golden Ticket, positioning Gently Soap for continued national expansion.
