Dr. Rebecca Dupas is an educator, author, photographer, ‘artrepreneur’ and award-winning poet. With nearly two decades of experience in writing, performance, event curation, and hosting, Rebecca is a two-time Poet of Year award-winner in Philadelphia and Baltimore and was recently named a Baltimore Legend. Her latest works, “Somebody Else’s Blues”, “Not Without Black Women” and a children’s book, “Mario Goes to the Museum”, are explorations into the Black experience. From the senseless murder of unarmed Black men and women  to navigating relationships and celebrating melanated people, Rebecca’s writing is rooted in resiliency and Black Joy. Rebecca is lovingly considered a mentor to many with notable influence on DMW poetry. She is the founder and former host of 8 long-running poetry events, from Busboys & Poets to Apple Bee’s and has pioneered diverse writing and workshop events such as Body of Work, Coffee & Critiques, and The Baltimore Host Retreat. Rebecca’s work has appeared on Fox 5, C- Span, PBS News, WEAA, in The Washington Post alongside President Clinton, and in the DC Black Film Festival.
