Q&A with WBE Star, Nathalie Doobin
What values have led to and continue to support your business acumen? Share your business philosophy and its influence on your success.
Take care of our employees and empower them to go above and beyond to serve our internal and external clients.
How has your company grown and changed since its inception and since becoming certified?
Since acquiring the company in 2012, I have grown it over 700% from a 2012 starting revenue base that was already eight figures.
What are the bigger challenges and barriers you’ve faced as a business owner? How have you overcome them?
One of the bigger challenges I have faced is to get team leaders to "think like an owner.” Addressing the compensation plan has been an effective way to address this challenge. People focus on what gets measured.
What do you view as benefits of being part of the WBENC network?
Access to companies who are serious about their diversity program, MatchMaker sessions, as well as the support of the community.
What guiding words would you like to share with a newly certified WBE who is looking to get involved in the WBENC community?
Participating in the two annual conferences is very important to ensure you get the most of your certification. For the June conference, be sure to register during the early bird period to get access to the MatchMaker sessions; they are amazing!
What advice do you have for a new entrepreneur?
Don't get distracted by shiny objects: understand your business' potential growth sources and narrow your focus.
