After a whirlwind week at the 2019 WBENC National Conference & Business Fair hosted in Baltimore, Maryland, 16 WBEs made their way to the Google Office in DC to participate in the Google Tuck Digital Excellence Program.
In today’s world, it is a business imperative to have digital mindset. The Google Tuck Digital Excellence Program is a collaboration between the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth and Google’s Supplier Diversity and Inclusion team to provide diverse business owners with the tools, strategies, and resources to help grow their businesses online. The program has been running for nearly five years, and this was the ninth class.
As part of their ongoing partnership with WBENC, Google provided $20,000 in scholarships for WBEs nominated by the WPEO-DC with engagement of the WBENC programs team, bringing the total of WBEs in this class to 16.
Participants covered a curriculum designed by academic experts, industry leaders, and Google specialists. Sessions like Constructing a Digital Strategy, delivered by Dr. Alva Taylor, Faculty Director for Tuck’s Center for Digital Strategies, taught attendees how to effectively create a digital footprint. A session led by Google Mobile Strategy experts explored how mobile can impact a company's value proposition. Participants heard from current Google suppliers and Tuck alumni who discussed live examples of the impact of digital on their businesses.
WBEs left the program with new knowledge and skills and excited to apply them to their digital strategy.
“Digital touches everyone in your organization and each person should understand how their digital voice and brand ties back to the mission, value and reputation of your organization,” says Candace Waterman, President & CEO of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP).
Barbara Wichmann, CEO/CSO of ARTÉMIA Communications, Inc. adds, “Google’s Digital Excellence Program for Minority Entrepreneurs is a great opportunity for diverse businesses to catch up on the latest trends in building their digital toolkits and to enhance their understanding of today’s digital landscape. Produced in conjunction with Tuck University, the conference featured Professor Alva Taylor and other industry experts on digital excellence, who provided real-life examples, clearly illustrating why it is so important for any business, regardless of size or industry, to embrace digital excellence.¨
Google is committed to help empower and educate WBEs and excited for the next cohort of DEP attendees. If you're interested in participating please visit the Digital Excellence Program website.
