Who or what inspires you in your career?
I have been very fortunate to have many role models and mentors who have supported me in providing sound advice and guidance from an early age. Of course, my parents were my first role models and instilled in me the importance of hard work and integrity. They provided a solid foundation of support allowing me to flourish and know there were no limits to what I could accomplish in life. Then my first boss, Gitanjali, who I credit with many of the day to day values I work by, as it was she who gave me my first experience in what being a true leader really meant. Last and certainly not least, my husband is my rock and also serves as an amazing role model. As a wonderful husband, father and business man he provides me with much support in my home and work life.
What do you see as the coolest or most important trend in your industry?
Regardless of the industry, technology changes every day and these changes are impacting our businesses and our lives. For example, the convergence between our physical and digital worlds continues to evolve, but at a much faster rate. I see many factors influencing this rapid pace of change: (1) digital technologies have matured and now can be adopted by even risk adverse and highly controlled businesses, (2) competition continues to increase, and (3) customers are demanding greater convenience and value.
A year ago, many businesses believed that robotic process automation (RPA) and artificial intelligence (AI) were futuristic and couldn’t be successfully implemented to solve their challenges. With the rapid advancement of these and other products that consolidate data from across the enterprise, automate end-to-end processes, and simplify complex analytics, organizations are able to shift from tradition time consuming and rigid development techniques to quicker, agile solutions that empower the business. For example, organizations can apply predictive analytics that identify what could (or will) happen and respond in real time to improve decision making, solve or preempt problems, and reshape the customer experience.
As a technology company, these are exciting changes that we explore in our Innovation Labs to understand advanced capabilities, build proof of concepts that solve business problems, and test ease of development, integration and use.
The future is exciting and we look forward to the next phase of the technology journey, wherever it takes us.
What advice would you give to women entrepreneurs?
For women who are starting a new business, it is important to stay focused, remain patient, and be persistent. You need to remain confident about your vision, even in the face of adversity, as your passion will lead to success. Also, be prepared to work hard and surround yourself with like-minded people who support your vision. Finally, always believe in yourself, your people and your business. By investing back into your people, processes and infrastructure, you will continue to lay the groundwork for success.
What’s the best piece of career advice you’ve ever received?
As my career and business have grown, it was my mom who gave me the best advice to keep everything in perspective: “Be yourself, don’t change and always be a giver.”
