Dear WBENC Network,
As we approach the end of another fabulous year for the WBENC network, I want to take a quick moment to wish you all a wonderful holiday and happy new year. The end of the year can sometimes feel a bit frenzied, but it’s also the perfect time to practice reflection and gratitude, and we could not be more grateful for our dynamic network of rockstar WBEs and champions of diversity.
As you might imagine, the WBENC team is already full steam ahead on planning our 2019 events and programs. We have some truly innovative and exciting things in store for you next year – stay tuned for some big announcements coming in January!
In the meantime, I have been reflecting on some of my favorite moments of 2018. From the energizing keynote from Vernice “Flygirl” Armour at Summit & Salute to dancing to my favorite band (Emerald City!) with some of my favorite people (all of you!) at Eastern Market in Detroit during the National Conference & Business Fair, this year has been filled with incredible moments and memories. But perhaps most meaningful to me has been seeing WBEs grow and develop as part of our expanding selection of executive education programs, and the connections made between WBEs as a result of learning and growing together.
I am also proud of and grateful for our Corporate Members and sponsors who have continued to set the bar for their commitment to diversity and inclusion efforts while investing in women-owned businesses as suppliers and partners. We look forward to announcing the 2018 Top Corporations for WBEs early next year and honoring them at Summit & Salute in March!
Speaking of which, registration for Summit & Salute is now open. As always, we highly encourage WBEs to register before the early bird deadline of January 22, 2019 in order to be eligible for 1:1 MatchMaker Meetings, an incredible opportunity to meet one-on-one with Corporate Member representatives. (Read our recent blog post for an overview of MatchMaker & Meet & Greet.)
For our part, we are ending the year with a bang, with some great publicity for the WBENC network and certification distributed nationwide this week in a special publication on Diversity in Business within USA Today. You can read my article in the publication here.
A very happy holiday to you and yours! And don’t forget to #ACTIntentionally and #BuyWomenOwned this holiday season and beyond.
