WBENC and Top Energy Corporations Collaborate to Provide Industry Education and Opportunity

WBENC in cooperation with America’s Top Corporations for WBEs in the energy industry partnered to increase the capabilities of women owned businesses within the energy industry’s supply chain.

During the first week of November 2018, 24 women CEOs and business owners came together with executives and technical experts of BP America, Chevron, ExxonMobil, and Shell Oil Company to focus on their businesses and how to increase opportunities for women in the energy supply chain.

In this immersive, week-long program held at the Shell Robert Training Center, WBEs went through an intense executive business curriculum including classes on finance, strategy, marketing and negotiation taught by UT-Austin’s McCombs School of Business professors, along with energy specific classes and hands on field exercises.

Major energy industry participating corporations provided subject matter expertise in classes taught on each segment of the energy market – upstream, midstream and downstream. Participants also spent time going through field training, including control center and process area training, pipeline pigging, virtual reality exercises in safety and offshore drilling, followed by panel discussions with energy industry procurement professionals and a high level look at what the future of energy means for business, innovation and our world.

In the past two years, 54 participants have been through this groundbreaking program. Congratulations to the following alumni:
