Greetings WBENC Network!
I write to you from Houston, Texas, the host city for the 2019 Summit & Salute in March. We are so excited to bring the WBENC network to this energetic and dynamic city next year, and do we have some new and innovative things in store for you!
Innovation and reinvention have certainly been themes for us at WBENC recently, as we have been listening to feedback and really taking the time to examine our events, programming and initiatives. Through this process, I think we have uncovered some new and truly exciting ways to enhance our event experiences and provide even more opportunities and resources for WBEs and Corporate Members alike. (Stay tuned – we will be sharing more about the 2019 Summit & Salute programming when registration opens next month.)
This innovation also extends to our sponsorship opportunities. In the coming year, we will have many exciting new sponsorship packages and opportunities to get involved, support WBENC and the development of WBEs, and demonstrate your support for women-owned businesses. The 2019 sponsorship brochure, which lists all available packages and sponsorship opportunities, will be published on WBENC.org in the next few weeks.
Speaking of developing WBEs, we are fresh off the heels of several new executive education programs, including the inaugural Women in Technology program, which took place last month in Austin, Texas. We are proud to have partnered with Dell Technologies to provide education and resources to help promote and advance women-owned businesses in the underrepresented technology industry. Read the full program recap here.
We are also currently gearing up for the second annual WBENC Energy Executive Program, focused on the energy, oil and gas industries, and we just wrapped up another successful Tuck-WBENC Executive Program. Check out the WBENC Blog in the coming weeks for more recaps of these and other programs.
I will wrap this up with a call to action. October is National Women’s Small Business Month, and we have launched a large campaign to help celebrate the growth and accomplishments of women-owned businesses and the vital role they play in our economy. It is a great reminder for us to #ActIntentionally and #BuyWomenOwned. Please join us this month by following Women Owned on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, sharing your statement of support for women-owned businesses, and posting your own Women Owned purchase using the hashtag #BuyWomenOwned.
As the latest American Express State of Women-Owned Businesses report points out, the growth of women-owned businesses continues at a rapid pace, but we are still far from reaching gender parity. We need to continue to ramp up support for women-owned businesses to help open doors, accelerate growth, and create opportunities that fuel the economy.
