Q: What did you do before you started at WBENC?
My history with WBENC spans over 13 years. My introduction to the WBENC family was with the Women’s Business Council Gulf Coast (currently known as WBEC-South) as the Director of Certification. After relocating to North Carolina due to my husband being active duty, I transferred to the position of Certification Manager NC/SC for the Greater Women’s Business Council. In 2011, we relocated to San Antonio, TX and I received a call from WBENC in July with a job offer, one of the best days of my life and the rest is history.
Q: What keeps you busy at WBENC/What are the main projects you work on?
I work in the Certification Department which is the nucleus of WBENC. Working with the RPOs and applicants creates exciting days. We pride ourselves with providing the best customer service so answering questions about certification and ensuring RPO staff is properly trained makes the days go by faster than they should.
Q: What is your favorite part of working at WBENC?
I enjoy working for a mission oriented organization and our team is awesome. It really feels like family, which makes the “work” easier. Since 2003, I have been amazed by the successes of our WBEs, some started so small and have grown immensely because of this powerful network.
Q: What do you do for fun outside of work?
I love spending time with my family. My husband and I are proud parents of an awesome 14 year old, Kaleb, and he keeps us quite busy. Between school activities and sports, there isn’t much time for myself, but when I do find a free moment, I like to catch up on my favorite shows, (i.e. Grey’s Anatomy, Big Bang Theory and a few others).
Q: What do you do really well?
I feel I deliver the highest level of customer service. It is my goal for all of our constituents, whether a Corporate Member, RPO or WBE/applicant, to have a great experience when interacting with our network. Our process is rigorous so being responsive and available to assist applicants makes a world of difference.
Q: Who inspires you?
A: My husband inspires me every day because I don’t think I could do what he does for our country. Being forced to enter hostile environments without a choice is a formidable act. He has done it with strength and grace and I am lucky to have him as my partner for life.
