2016 WBENC Summit & Salute - Day Two

Wednesday was a full day of programming. Attendees picked up their Allstate welcome bags, checked in on the WBENC Events mobile app sponsored by Marriott, and headed straight to the packed Procurement Meet & Greet sponsored by Toyota and Chevron.

Our hashtag #SummitSalute16 was strong throughout the day on Wednesday and here are some highlights:

The most popular tweet of the event so far has been the U.S. Census Bureau’s snapshot of women owned businesses in the US!

WBE Shellee Fisher captured the energy and excitement in the Procurement Meet & Greet!

The first set of industry roundtables featured leadership from our #TopCorps and were full of insight from the panelists and great questions from the audience.

After presenting about her company’s approach to innovation in an earlier session, WBE ALOM President and CEO Hannah Kain took some time to speak with Ford VP and speaker Birgit Behrendt during the Welcome to Phoenix! Silent Auction and Reception.

Get ready for Thursday:

  • Today we are at the Phoenix Convention Center. The morning kicks off with our buffet breakfast where we recognize the Top Corporations at the Bronze distinction, catch the first video celebrating WBE Stars, and hear from our first keynote speaker, Olympic Gold Medalist Nastia Liukin. Following breakfast, participants should prepare for 1:1 MatchMaker Meetings.
  • During lunch we will celebrate the Top Corporations at the Silver distinction and watch the next WBE Stars video before our keynote Dr. Jen Welter takes the stage. After lunch we have our last two Industry Roundtables before everyone gets ready for the evening celebrations.
  • Our event culminates with the Salute dinner where we recognize our WBE Stars as well as the Top Corporations of the Gold and Platinum distinction. The night doesn’t end until the post-Salute celebration, where we will dance the night away.
