What did you do before you started at WBENC?
My first career was actually as a teacher but after 10 years transitioned and worked for Nortel Networks as a Marketing Specialist. From there, I started working for Fujitsu in Supplier Diversity, which is where my introduction to WBENC began. I was working for Heather Herndon-Wright and when she was hired by WBENC she hired me and then Candace came on board. Together we were the Dallas office of WBENC. I’ve been with WBENC since 2006 but will be retiring next July.
What keeps you busy at WBENC?
The WBENCLink & Certification Support Desk keep me on my toes, especially now that we have released WBENCLink2.0. In addition, I manage the MatchMaker program for WBENC for both the Summit & Salute and National Conference & Business Fair.
What is your favorite part of working at WBENC?
I love helping people and managing the support desk gives me ample opportunity to do that!
What do you do for fun outside of work?
When I’m not working, I love to play with my 6 grandchildren. They are the joy of my life and being their Nene is my greatest gift.
What was your proudest moment at WBENC?
A few years ago, Pam asked the staff if there was anything at our events that we thought we would like to do or could improve upon. I said MatchMaker. After a long silence, she said are you sure and the rest is history. I’ve been told on more than one occasion that we are now the example of what MatchMaker should be. Yeah for WBENC!
What do you do really well?
I excel at Customer Support and have been told that I have the patience of a saint. Whether you need a password or an in-depth conversation /guided tour about our process or system, I’m there for you!
