Q: What did you do before you started at WBENC?
A: I came to WBENC after working for a WBENC-Certified WBE doing content marketing with a focus in film production. WBENC was actually one of our clients, which is how I got to know Pat Birmingham and the team, so I was lucky enough to have a good understanding of what WBENC was working towards. In the past I’ve worked in film production, for a brewing company doing marketing and spent my college summers working in Yosemite National Park.
Q: What keeps you busy at WBENC?
A: I work on the marketing team where most of my days are spent preparing for the National Conference & Business Fair which I manage from end-to-end as well as managing the WBENC Blog and President’s Report so that we’re always getting you fresh content. We are so excited about celebrating our 20th Anniversary and have a lot of exciting and different things in the works. We are very busy putting all of the finishing touches on the Summit & Salute!
Q: What is your favorite part of working at WBENC?
A: I really love getting to meet and learn from all of the WBEs. There are so many incredible women in our network and I learn so much from them and hearing their stories. I love this network, everyone is so supportive and welcoming. We also have an incredible staff at WBENC that makes the day-to-day work life into fun family, you can’t ask for much more than that!
Q: What is your proudest moment at WBENC?
A: During the national events I am responsible for a lot, but especially everything happening on stage. I make sure the scripts are correct, that people are in place and keep everything running smoothly. At the end of each event, after the Salute dinner in March and after the Tribute! Dinner in June, once everyone has come off stage and we are officially “done” I am always overwhelmed with pride. I try to take that moment to reflect on all of the work the WBENC team did to make it happen and celebrate the completion of another smooth event.
Q: What do you do for fun outside of work?
A: Outside of work I like to make and do things. I love creating things whether it is throwing on the pottery wheel, quilting baby blankets or woodworking. I’ll happily spend a day in the kitchen baking, my most recent success was this chocolate-peanut butter fudge cheesecake!
I also love getting out to do things. My husband and I are huge outdoor enthusiasts so on weekends you’ll find us outdoors somewhere whether it’s playing ultimate Frisbee, going for a bike ride or hiking. We recently brought home our first puppy, Wrigley, who has quickly stolen our hearts.
