Get to Know Pat Birmingham

What did you do before you started at WBENC?

Prior to joining WBENC, I worked for Pfizer Inc. for 14 years. My roles spanned IT, CRM, business process, system implementations, procurement and sales/marketing.  I was involved in supplier diversity and attended many WBENC events as a Corporate Member.  I always left the events feeling so inspired and knowing that this was something that I wanted to get more involved in….and here I am!! These last four years have been the most rewarding ones of my career.

What keeps you busy at WBENC?

My main areas of focus are marketing and technology. My team has the responsibility for the day to day collateral, our web sites, President’s Report, blog, social media, Insights library and anything that has to do with the WBENC brand.  In addition, we execute the national events as internal “event planners” and jacks/jills of all trades! I also oversee our technology infrastructure, management and maintenance to keep us up and running.

What is your favorite part of working at WBENC?

By far the people. We have an amazing, talented, passionate team that works hard, but has fun together, respects each other, and pushes one another to go farther, take risks, and excel.

What do you do for fun outside of work?

I love to cook – it is my therapy.  There is nothing more rewarding than watching your family and friends enjoy a meal that you prepared for them. I also enjoy reading, the beach, and boating.  My husband and I recently purchased a waterfront home on Kent Island, MD. I could sit and look at the water for hours.

What are you passionate about?

I am very passionate about developing people. I love to manage my team, help them grow and achieve their goals, learn new skills and challenge themselves.  It is very rewarding to see people succeed and know you had a role in that success.

Why do you get up in the morning?

I get up in the morning and hit the ground running for my family – they are the most important part of my life. I am blessed to have my Mom, who is 91, living with my husband and me. I have four incredible children who inspire me every day with their energy, creativity and goodness.  My husband of 15 years is an amazing partner who supports me in all that I do. Oh, and of course, my fur baby, Soleil!
